Hello again.
Long time and no action. But all that got changed when Owen and Gary from Almighty Me came around to record.
A good time was had. In the afternoon hours Own laid down two Trombone tracks and a nice bit o' trumpt. Later on Garry joined us and did several vocal takes which has provided me with many choices for mixing. Anyways, best thing to do is to let you have a listen. Two soundfiles below. First is Owen and Gary talking about the project, and the second is a snippet of what we recorded:

This is me. On crutches. It's not that clear in the picture, but there is a big leg-length splint wrapped around my left leg there! Now the obvious question to ask is what has all this got to do with '..Samosas'? Well, injured leg=time off work and more opportunities to do some recording. So, Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce to you Bret Klein:
An no, that's not a 3/4 sized guitar; the man is just a giant. Bret came over and within one hour of hearing one of the tunes for '...Samosas' laid down a rough vocal. He's coming back tomorrow to do a better take and record some of his own stuff as well. This blog has been devoid of audio clips for a while now, so he's a snippet of what we created together.
Did a bit of experimentation with distorting the vocal for the verses which helps it sit in the mix and brings out the drawing of breath. Which I quite like. The chorus doesn't sit so well, but it's early days yet, and better takes to be done.
Other than Mr Bretski contributing, there are other musicians starting to work away on their contributions. I'm expecting a Mr Kevin Stevenson of Silva to pop by tomorrow. He shall be recording basslines for the track with working titles of 'WASPS' and 'Jazzy'. Should be fun. Also, Mr Alan H McDonald of 99Confessions and Afterlives fame is working away on the vocals to the pop song of the album that will now be named 'Present Tense'.
